The Talented 10th: A Writer's Project
CB Publishing realizes that writing is the foundation for success particularly for students moving on to the collegiate level to attain Bachelors and Post Graduate degrees.  However it was not the decision of CB Publishing to establish the Talented 10th Writer's Project.  Several students decided that they had something very important to say in  regard to their futures, their people and this country.  These students sat down and created the framework for a project that would grant them the ability to reach out to not only their generation but to the nation.  This project is also a means to generating scholarship opportunities for the writers involved.

The writers (prodigies) are all high school seniors.  Each prodigy has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.  They have all earned or are in the progress of earning ACT scores in the mid to high 20's and they have all performed community service to gain a better understanding of what giving back means to an individual.

Book Titles:
Redesigning the Labryinth: Essays on the Socioeconomic issues of African-Americans
A compilation of essays by the prodigies on the issues that are affecting Black America.
Redefining The Labyrinth edited by Prof. C.D. Burns

Take 4 high school students contemplating their future and place them with a professor who realizes their potential, and you have a work of non-fiction that is comparable to any academic discussion you would find in the halls of ivy league, private and state colleges.

Presented like a music CD, using Tracks instead of Chapters, The Labyrinth took over 100 hours of research and writing to complete.  Each section is titled after music from various hip-hop artists.

The book is a collection of essays that analyze the African-American situation through a call and response method.  Like a hip-hop concert the emcee guides the crowd through a discussion on poverty and education, and the crowd responds with words of support and criticism on how it is critical that Blacks begin to tear down the images of negativity which contribute to misconceptions about African-Americans young and old.

Professor C.D. Burns introduces each student essay and then passes the mic to each analyst to relay conscious and relevant discussions.  In an attempt to bridge the gap between education and the Black student Burns utilizes the book to introduce an analysis of literature and steps away to let the students delve further into discussions that enlighten in a manner very similar to The Covenant with Black America.
Writers: Professor Christopher D. Burns, DeVarius Fisher, Tevin Hudson, London Maclin, and Michael Walker

Proceeds from the book will be split between the student writers for financial assistance and scholarships for each student.
