Byron Braxton is a native Memphian. A 1989 graduate of Hillcrest High School, Byron has maintained his roots here. After graduation, Byron enrolled at Memphis State University. The following year he joined the United States Army Reserves in which he served 8 years. In 1994, Byron married his college sweetheart, Kim Leon. Through their union they have three children: Kennedye(18), Chandler(17), and Kerrigan(13). In 1996, Byron set out to pursue his deep passion to be a law enforcement officer with the Memphis Police Department. Over the past 18 years as a police officer, Byron has served as a Field Training Officer, a member of the Crisis Intervention Team, A Crisis Negotiator, and a Violent Crimes Investigator.
